I have some .mpg files I deleted, then I Emptied the Recycle Bin. However
days later, when I did a Search:, the files showed up. I am unable to open
the file (get a "Windows Media Player encountered a problem" error, and I am
unable to delete it again (get a "name of the" file does not exist. The file
or folder may have been moved or deleted" message). How do I permanently get
rid of a file?

Your Indexing may be stopped or other problems.

Type Indexing in the Start/search chose Indexing Options it will tell you
status. You can choose Advanced and then Rebuild Index to re-run it. This
will take some time especially if you are using the computer for other things.

Look at where the files are located. They are probably shadow copies which
you could use for recovery if needed.

Shadow copies are not complete files in themselves. They are just the
difference from the previous version.
