Deleted Word shortcut from Quick Launch reappears after reboot

I have a Word 2003 shortcut on my quick launch bar. I can delete it but it
comes back after I reboot. I do not have Word 2003 on this computer nor have
I ever. I do have Word 2007. I attempted to point the shortcut to the right
version of Word which seemed to work, but after rebooting the fantom Word
2003 shortcut showed up again. How can I permanently remove this bad
shortcut?

I have now tried deleting the item directly from the quick launch folder and
even went as far as installing then removing word 2003. Funny thing is that
the shortcut was removed during the uninstall process but then showed up
again after rebooting. I am guessing there must be some sort of startup
process that is putting it there but can't figure out what it must be.
Anyone have any ideas?
