Deleting files after Norton AV uninstall

Hi!
os is windows 98se IE6 sp1

I recently uninstalled Norton AV and I've fixed most of the known resulting
problems but I'm currently having trouble with two.
1. When booting the following message appears each time: " Cannot find a
device file that may be needed to run windows or a windows application. The
windows registry or a SYSTEM. INI file refers to this device file but the
device file no longer exists. If you deleted the file on purpose try
uninstalling the associated application using it's uninstall or setup
program. If you still want to use the
application associated with the device file, try reinstalling that
application to replace the missing file."
C:\PROGRA`1\SYMANTEC\SYMEVNT.386
Press any key to continue
2. Same wording as above but refers to a different file.
C:\PROGRA`1\NORTON`\NAVAP.VxD
Press any key to continue
NOTE!! The above does not happen in safe mode.

In the registry under Local Machine, Software, there is a Symantec entry
with a whole bunch of sub entries including some shared usage files. Can
these files be simply deleted?

Any help in removing this trash will be greatly appreciated.

Hi

This is not a web forum, this is newsgroups, so that is possible.
You need to repost your question in a windows 98 newsgroup yourself.
