If I right click on a playlist and select delete from library and pc, it gets
deleted but medial player promptly creates another one at the end of the list
of playlists, containing the contents of the next album that it finds. It
insists on always having five playlists. What on earth is going on?

I'm trying to delete all playlists so that I can regroup my music in advance
of synching my mp3 player.

Click on the Playlist node itself so you can see *all* your playlists. I'd
bet you're viewing the Most Frequently Used playlists and thinking that
subset of five is your full set. =)

Thanks. I still don't quite understand why I have a prob when deleting from
the left hand 'explorer' list, but can delete from the window when I click
the top level..but anyway, I've done what I needed to do!
