when I highlight a "short cut" file and click delete the response is "could
not find this item", verify location and try again".

Hello Wildor

See if after you refresh the window (F5) or restart the computer, th
shortcut file is still there or not

You might have a file association issue; fix for .lnk here:
http://www.winhelponline.com/article...ows-Vista.html
Else, try CC Cleaner.
Also, you might not have permission to delete those .lnk entries.
