How long must one keep an update?
I have quite a few of these over the years and they are consuming
a huge amount of space on the harddrive.
I just downloaded only one yesterday that was 30MB.
Does one surpass the other, therefore making the older one useless?
Can / should I delete any updates prior to SP2?

The obsolete files are overwritten and appropriate entries from Add/Remove
Programs also removed automatically by Windows as appropriate so there is no
reason to remove an update and you should not remove them.
But there are some files that can be safely deleted:

Also verify you have SP-2 installed.
Right click My Computer and click Properties
"Service Pack 2" should be on the last line under "System".

Thanks for your help and the included webpage.
I should be able to regain quite a bit of space.
