Thanks for bringing that scenario up, I hadn't thought about that before (performance over
slow connections).
To directly answer your question, yes, removing your Live ID will completely remove these
lists. However, for best results I suggest you close the account before you head to sleep at
night and then create it again in the morning. Last time I checked, there is a delay before
it's completely removed and your contact list may still remain if you create it again too
fast.

Additionally, before closing your account you may want to save your main contact list to a
file first and then import it back into your "new" account after you've created it again.
You can find the options for both saving and importing your contact list by opening up the
main Messenger window, pressing Alt on the keyboard to bring up the menu bar, choosing the
Contacts menu and these two options should be at the bottom. In older versions of Messenger
they are on the File menu.
