Whenever i send my mother an e-mail on Windows Live Messenger she receives it
but I always get an e-mail back from with the
heading "Delivery Status Notification (Failure). It happens to other people
too.

On another occasion she sent me a joke via e-mail and i received it 16
times in batches, and another joke 9 times. This happened to another of her
contacts a few days after.

I recently updated her MSn Live Messenger and thought this would work but it
hasn't.

Please help

Deb

Greetings Deb,

Windows Live Hotmail is a separate entity from Messenger, so it doesn't really matter what
version of Messenger itself that's being used.

The failure message should tell you exactly why it has failed, could you paste one of the
failure messages (and be sure to obscure the e-mail address)?

As for the multiple messages, that can happen if someone is being a tad impatient and clicks
the 'Send' button repeatedly in frustration

Did you ever get a response as to why this is happening? This is what is in a
header I received with a message that shouldn't have been sent via email to
me or anyone. Does anyone know how to read the header so I can find out who
sent this? It was undeliverable because it said the mailbox was unavailable
but I don't think it was as I had sent one right before this and it went
through.

Hello Jonathan Kay [MVP],
I also have the same repeated problem. Except that my messenger signs
out, then I get a pop up window in the lower right stating I have signed out.
I sign back in immediately and there are dozens of this
. I only get this mess when, with out my
permission, the system signs me out of MSN. I have scanned my computer with
Norton, Ad-Aware Anniversary Edt 2009 and Mal-Warebytes and it doesn't find
anything. I build, repair, upgrade, fix computers. Something is signing me
out my MSN and then hi-jacking my e-mail and then I get all this Postmaster
stuff. There has to be some sort of spy-ware / mal-ware that is causing the
fuss. I am considering changing my e-mail password to a Strong password in
hopes that what ever is doing this will stop.
If you want, I can probably send you a couple HUNDRED of these
failure notices. Just let me know.
Paul
