i have a vista perimiem an Inspiron 531--the computer is only 60 days
old--and I have had a slew of differant problems I have contacyed Dell for
their help, but each help has started some other
problem--frezzing,hibernation,connection, their have been more than their
should be for a new computer--POINT---the Dell asst took my computer out of
vista premium to vista basic ??and this was done because my Keypad may be
bad. getting new one on 4/27/08--i need to know if i'm causing more problems
--by running my system while it is out of sync --the shame of it all is they
could not fix any problems --so they said the only fix was to reurn my
computer back to Factory settings but never reset what ty did--i'm sorry i
just feel my New computer is slidding downhill Fast and I need help from
someone who Knows whats up--I keep getting a error #815 in connections it
acts like I have a dial up and i have high speed roadrunner with
insight.rr.com I wish you folks at windows could look inside my computer like
Dell connect--anyway can I keep using this computer without hurting it
anymore than it already is thanks anyway Linda

First of all, did the tech have you run any diags ? Things like
keyboards and touchpads are extremely simple to test outside of the
Windows environment. On Dell systems you simply hit the F12 key during
bootup and select "Diagnostics" or "Utility Partition" and follow the
prompts.

Regarding Error 815, it is generally an authentication error or
connectivity problem. There are numerous possible sources for this
error however I tend to look at softwares such as Norton Internet
Security, McAfee Anything and other over-the-top security softwares
first.
