Dell Dock has stopped functioning

Hi,

My new laptop pops up the message that my dell dock has stopped working.
Windows Vista then proceeds to search for a solution but can't find one. I
don't have any idea why this simple function on my desktop would stop working
but I'm trying to find out what I should do to fix it. Thanks.

New laptop with problems = call Dell tech support. It's under warranty.

I have the same problem. Dell Dock stopped working. I am using a new
Dell Studio XPS 435 MT desktop with Vista 64 bit. During the last few
days I spent almost 3 hours with Dell support on the phone - they also
took over my computer and tried to fix the Dock. They couldn't make it
work - tried uninstalling & reinstalling several times, restarting the
computer etc. etc.

Their final suggestion was to start from scratch - reload Vista and all
programs. I didn't find this to be very helpful - the Dock was useful
but certainly not worth all that work to retrieve it.

So I am back to icons all over the screen again like Windows XP days.

The Dock is a small program - somebody should be able to fix it!!

I just bought a new dell. The doc is nice. But I am also have some
problems with the config. See my post on here.

But on my XP laptop i am using http://rocketdock.com/
which is really sweet. Better than dells doc.

::I have the same problem with a 3month old Dell Inspiron 15. The Dell
Dock ‘was’ a great feature, but disappeared over night like a criminal
on the run. It refused to uninstall for over a day, fails to reinstall
after downloading it again from Dell and other websites, and produces
endless error reports and failed in sending error report to Dell. ::

::HOWEVER: you shouldn’t have to, as Dell should be making products
that work. You also shouldn’t been having to go back to Dell as you

question. Very poor by Dell, they should be named and shamed. ::
