Hello forum members, Today I had posted my first problem about use
account. This is second post. I have just stopped conversation with Del
Japan technical support(supported by non Japanese staff but from one bi
red neighboring country). According to them as Dell Japan replaced th
hard disk and re-installed windows vista home premium 32 bit, syste
restore is also not possible and may be the reason of error whil
installing Dell Media Direct 3.5 could be due to Windows Vista Servic
Pack 2, therefore, if I want solution I should re-install windows vist
and try again.:

The question is, is Dell computer complicated or it is Windows Vist
pre-installed on new computer which I had purchased when Microsoft wa
saying they are going to stop technical support in Japan but they di
not:sa:

If there is anyone among you having Dell XPS 1530 with Windows vist
home premium 32 bit, would you please advise, what should be done i
situation like this

Thank you very much

Hi Ari94,

I don't have Dell XPS 1530, but I got interested in your problem and did
some look around.

Dell Media Direct software enables your laptop to be used for viewing
various media types without the need to load operating system, ie Vista.

To enable this functionality, Dell Media Direct software must be intalled
outside of the Vista system partition. The install process requires 2GB of
unalocated free space on your hard drive.

IOW,
1. Dell Media Direct software is not dependant on the OS version and Service
Pack.

2. You need to free 2GB of space on your hard drive. You can use some third
party utilities for this.

Of course before you embark on such a quest, you should take the necessry
preparations (backup, drive image etc).

If you feel uncomfortable about these tasks, perhaps you should ask for
professional help in the computer/service shop in your neighbourhood.

Good luck

Hello Dusko Savatovic

First of all thank you very much for taking time to reply in detail.:

I understood what you have said. You are 100% right about Dell Direc
Media. I have been talking with Dell support Japan about hard drive i
is 160 GB and I had asked them to make C and D partition but they di
not and even did not install drivers according to them I have to pay an
get help for installation thought repair was covered in guarante
period. Therefore I did other part myself. As I am not a professional
was afraid what if some thing went wrong etc but after readin
reply I think I can do that

In windows vista there is a function to make a new partition o
reducing space. I can do that but not sure if Media direct really work.

Thank you very much
