DeltaSync Problem with subfolders of a Windows Live Account

The following happens to me frequently.

Situation : 2 computers in 2 cities.
Both run WLM with several eMail accounts.
Both computers are logged in with the same Windows Live ID, thus sharing the
calender.
Both computers also use the eMail account of the same Windows Live ID (so,
they are logged in with the live id and separately they have a created eMail
account using the live id, i hope this is the correct method).

The eMail account with the live ID has a numer of folders, uncluding
subfolders, e.g. folder office with subfolder todolist

Most of the time everything works and the calendar syncs properly.

But what does not sync correctly are the folders of the windows live email
account.

If i am in one city (Dresden) and move some eMails into the office --->
todolist folder, all works fine.
I then arrive in the other city (Vienna), turn on the computer, open WLM,
double click F5 (sync everything)
and i end up with the folder office but the subfolder todolist gone - and
the content does not get synced.

Only solution i found:
1. LogOut of Windows Live (within the WLM program)
2. DELETE the eMail Account (the Windows Live eMail account).
3. Add the Windows Live eMail account again
4. LogIn to Windows Live
5. Double Click F5 - wait for a while, and the structure of the subfolders
is correctly being rebuilt.

OK, but is there any other solution for such a problem or does anyone
experience similar?

Besides did i understand correctly that when using a Windows Live ID in WLM,
i must do both things:
1. Create an eMail account with username/password of the live ID so that i
can use the eMail address
2. LogIn to Windows Live (in WLM) to be able to use the calendar.

thanks for any responses.

greetings

1. It is not necessary to have an email account setup in WLM for the Live
ID that is used to logon to Windows Live services.

2. WLM provides two calendars:

- offline (no Live ID used to sign on to Windows Live services in WLM)
(local calendar database only)

- online
(Live ID calendar corresponding to the Live ID used to sign-on to Windows
Live services in WLM)
(Changes made in either location in WLM or calendar.live.com will be
present in both after a sync)
(WLM will maintain a local calendar database identical to the one at
calendar.live.com)
(More features are available in a Live ID calendar vs. the Offline mode
calendar)

When I start WLM and login to with Windows Live ID, it will do so and sync
the calendar.
But i do not see the eMail address and account and therefore also not the
sub folders.

I have to create a separate eMail Account (with the same login data for the
same live id) and then the account eMail address and its corresponding
subfolders appear.

Is there another way of doing this?

Logging on to Windows Live services is an independent of setting up and
using an email account.

Logging on to Live services via the Live ID signin in WLM provides access
to Live services (not an email account)
- i.e. Live ID calendar and contacts, ability to use your Live ID SkyDrive
to send photo e-mails, etc.

If you have a Hotmail type account and wish to send and receive email with
that email account it needs to be setup in WLM.
- i.e. the Live ID used to sign-in to Windows Live services and the email
account (username/pw) may be the same but they serve different functions.
The former syncs the calendar and contacts and provides photo e-mail the
later only sends/receives/syncs mail (messages and folders)

You do not need to logon to Windows Live services (via the Live ID sign-in)
in WLM to send and receive email for that Hotmail type account.

If you want both (Live ID contacts/calendar/photo e-mail and send/receive
mail with a Live ID email account)....then you need to do both

Tnx, i just was not sure if i was doing the right thing but i really need
both - Calendar and the hotmail type eMail account so i am correctly logging
in with WLM AND using an email account.

The only problem still remains that the folders of the hotmail type eMail
account will sometimes not sync correctly on both of my computers.
The (sub)foler structure goes missing and only if i delete the account,
re-start WLM and add the account again and doublepress F5, the folder
structure re-appears again.

Wish I could offer more.
I've WLM on three units (XP, Vista, Win7) with multiple Live ID's (Hotmail
type accounts and third party registered Live ID's) and all Hotmail
accounts configured to use DeltaSync are 'in sync' across multiple
machines.

Is it possible that the non-syncing Hotmail account is configured to use
Pop3 on one machine thus disrupting the ability for DeltaSync to retrieve
all messages.

Actually i checked that - on all machines the server is set to be HTTP with
the path
https://mail.services.live.com/Delta....0.0/sync.aspx

The probmem with the non-syncing machine occurs at random so difficult to
reproduce.
No data gets lost as deleting and reconfiguring the account "pulls"
everything down from the wlm server.
I suppose that the disruption is somewhere on the local storage folder side
of wlm.
I also have no antivir software (except Microsoft Security Essentials).
Also the amount of messages is relatively small.

Anyhow, thanks for all the information.

One always has the option to compact and rebuild the local message store
index (iirc, noted in an earlier post on a different topic and added in
summary form below)

Open WLM in Mail mode (do not access News, Feeds, Contacts, Calendar etc)
Reset Counter to 1
Work Offline
Exit WLM via the blue button (Exit)
Don't interrupt the process
Open WLM
Work Online
Sign-in to Live services if not done automatically
Send and Receive

Very true! Actually i did that a number of times but forgot to "Work
Offline" as i thought that when terminating WLM, it automatically "goes
offline" before compacting the database/folder structure.

Work Offline prior to exit prevents any possibility that wlmail.exe is
still using existing resources when WLM is closed and prevents the 'folder
in use' message (which aborts the compact process)
e.g. an auto-poll, user initiated send/receive - i.e. something still
occurring
