Deplying WSUS in a NON-Active Directory environment.

Hi,

I'm trying to deploy WSUS in a Non-Active Directory Environment and I
want to know the best method to do this. I'd thought that the best way
it could be modifying the registry values through logon script. But we
have W2000 machines and I'm not sure about registry keys are the same
between W2000 and XP. Where can I see an script illustrated?.

Aside, we have about 500 machines and 90% of them are XP SP2, in the
other side there are W2000 Pro SP4 and some W98. Is there any way to
discover this 10% thorugh the network and try to know last patches applied.
