desk top icons changed

It looks like after the updates were downloaded from MS last night my desk
top has been affected. I have three user profiles, Two of them now have all
the icons of the third and ours are gone. I've tried system restore but it
doesn't help. Anyone know how to restore my desktop?

Windows XP -

This behaviour occurs if the Show Desktop Icons feature is turned off.
1. Right-click the desktop.
2. Point to Arrange Icons By and then click Show Desktop Icons.
