Desktop auto-arranges icons when you save a file

I've had this problem using Word and Excel (Office XP) on Vista. A word or
Excel file that I keep on the Desktop, off to the right side, gets
auto-arranged to the left every time I save it. Pretty annoying. Is there a
setting to fix this, has anyone else noticed this?
