Desktop Icon order issue

I'm currently having an ongoing issue with the Vista desktop icon order.

Whenever I save a file/web page from Internet Explorer or Mozilla
Firefox, the file goes to the second position in the order of icons (see
attached image). All the other icons get shifted down one position.
Programs like Paint/Word don't have this problem.

My settings are: Auto-arrange (on) and Align to Grid (on). No specific
sort function is selected.

This is quite an annoying issue - ideally I'd like new icons to be
moved to the end of the icon chain, so that my icon order is not
disrupted. I have done some searching, and only found two pages, both
without any reply.

I've been using a program called "Iconoid" for several years.
It is a life saver when it comes to icon arrangements on your
desktop. It allows you to save your current arrangement and
then restore it at any time, like after you run in Safe mode.
It has many other excellent features, and it is free!
Give it a try.
