desktop icon problem

Most but not all of my desktop icons changed to a blank page with the top
right hand corner bent forward. I right
clicked on the desktop, chose "personalize," then change desktop icons and
then restore defaults. This reduced the size of the blank page icon to
reveal part of the correct icon underneath it but the blank page, though
smaller, was still there. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Launch an elevated CMD window, ie Right click, Run as Administrator...
Shutdown Explorer Process from the Task Manager
In the CMD window go to C:\Users\<ProfileName>\AppData\Local
Do the following command: attrib -H IconCache.db
Do the following command: del IconCache.db
Do the following command: start explorer
