Thursday Morn

On the desktop: Any program icon other than the official "Desktop Icons" do
not display correctly.

The image that displays is the one that is usually displayed for a
program/file that cannot be found.

For some I can see the correct icon at the edges of the ugly one.

The name is correctly displayed.

This is so for: windows explorer, windows mail, internet explorer,...

The icons for the user, control panel, network, computer, and recycle bin
are fine.

Guidance please.

J

Hi J,

Did you try to change or remove the shortcut arrow for shortcuts?
If you used a method for XP instead of Vista it will messup the
shortcut icons like this.

Try using the program in this tutorial to change or remove it again to
fix the problem.

Gold Star for you.

I must have done this in the beginning.

And I do not have any shortcuts on the desktop. But a recent program install
put one there without asking me.

I fixed the registry and installed the utility. I am happy now.

Too bad a Vista TweakUI does not exist yet.

I sure would like to remove the shut down and lock buttons from the "start"
menu.
