"Desktop Restore" Icon Disappears from Taskbar

A single click to this icon used to display the desktop, no matter how
many windows were open at the time. Now I've lost it.
How do I bring it back?

Right-click the taskbar, go to toolbars. Make sure Quick Launch is checked.
