Hi Ben,

You can get a ton of good free ones here:

'Free wallpapers, wallpaper download' (http://wallpapers.jurko.net/)

The default location of the wallpapers in Vista is:
C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper

Have fun,
Shawn

With reference to the last post, Wallpapers are a nice addition to any
computer desktop, but this is not what i am looking for. I am looking for
desktop themes that are accessable from the themes manager for Windows
Vista. I would like to get them without using any additional programs such
as Windows Blinds.

As a refrence, like those you were able to get for windows xp that changed
the way the desktop appeared, start menu and other items.

Hello I have posted this information again on this newsgroup...

I am reposting my original post here..>>>>

I am fed up with reading posts saying that you cannot install other themes
on vista unless you use windowblinds.
This is wrong... here is the info you need if you want VISTA themes.
there are hundreds of vistual styles or themes for vista that work with
no third party application.
They do need however you to patch the dll that does the theming in vista
so it can take non microsoft signed themes.
This is similar to what existed in XP, and this also can be accomplished
without hassle with a program below (vistaglazz)
The new vista visual styles work only with vista and most have glass
effects just like aero glass has.

Where do you find them and how do you install them.?

You can find them here
http://browse.deviantart.com/customi...=9&alltime=yes
NOTE: on the bottom of this page there is a NEXT link that takes you to
the next pages.. in other words s there are MANY pages
with themes -visual styles. You will have to check them one by one to see
if they are for vista because not all of them are.

Most of these are Vista Specific themes- visual styles and have
transparent effects like aero.
An example is this one:
http://shamushand.deviantart.com/art...Vista-63342530
or this http://michel8170.deviantart.com/art/Satin-63941718

To use these themes you will need to patch the uxtheme DLL OR use this
free application:

since you are running home basic you have to search for ones that say they
are made for home basic..

I have seen a few but not many.

You can also find some visual styles for vista basic here if you use the
search box www.avaxhome.info
