You'll have to be more specific about what is actually happening ("Active
Sync doesn't work" may be true, but it's useless for debugging the problem).
The PC is stuck with the AS icon in the system tray gray? No sign of a
network adapter associated with the device in the Settings | Network
Connections applet on the XP Start menu? Or the AS icon is green and
apparently spinning? Or it shows connected, but doesn't sync?
You'll have to tell us, also, what firewall and virus scanner you are using.
Some virus scanners are *not* really disabled when you disable them. When
you do that, it just prevents *anything* from coming in, including the
messages sent between the device and ActiveSync.
