Finally fixed it with HP Tech support help. Ran from the original
disk and did a repair. Was able to do a system restore that had not
worked when in the program and it got to the poijnt where I could once
again see the devices in Device Manager instead of having a blank
screen.
Also, the wireless Internet device works. I'm certain that some
problem in its software caused it to load multiple iterations of its
driver and overwhelm the system. I felt like I was walking right on
the edge of having to completely restore to the factory setup. I'll
be very wary of updating the Sprint U720 drivers. They work this way.
If it ain't broke, I sure won't fix it.
