Device Manager - E Drive

Checking to see why my E drive stopped working, I went into the Control Panel
and on through Systems to the Device Manager and clicked on it. It will not
response so that I can check the status of my drive. Also, the machine XP
2000 Pro no longer will shut down. PLEASE ANYONE WITH A SUGGESTION. I belive
that the E drive is Ok, but the machine isn't recognizing it for some reason.

What operating system?
Windows XP or Windows 2000?
There is no such thing as "XP 2000 Pro"
