I have a Dell Inspiron 518 with over 500 GB of free space on the har
drive and it is running Windows Vista Home Premium.
Recently I became aware that the D: drive, the partition used fo
restoring my system had become full. 94.6% full in a very short perio
of time. I fixed that problem but unfortunately in the process th
Device Manager files became erased. Not to the Recycle Bin or th
Restoration File but everywhere, everywhere except from Hardware, unde
the Systems Properties. I have tried to find a way to copy these files
everything from putting them on a different spot on my hard drive t
burning them to DVD and nothing I've tried seems to work.
Does anyone have any suggestions or thoughts on how I might be able t
return these files to the restoration partition on my disk or a way tha
I could copy them to somewhere where I could then return them to th
restoration partition?. Would it work if I set up a new partition on m
hard drive and use that as a restoration file by telling the computer t
use it as a starting point for a new restore file?. Then in a coupl
weeks when I was sure everything was fine just delete the ol
restoration partition on my drive.? Any help of any kind would b
greatly appreciated, thank you for your time

If you mean the Recovery Partition, you should not be writing or even
reading this partition.

This normally is the partition containing a compressed version of the
original hard drive on your computer as delivered from the factory, and
is used to recreate your system to factory condition in case of extreme
problems.

If you never need to do this recovery, the loss of the partition is not
a problem, but meanwhile, Windows doesn't really know what to do with
it.
