DFS and DCs

I understand that DFS roots and paths are resolved via DCs and DCs are used
to validate DFS service, SiteCostedReferrals, Registry Entries DFS related
between DCs, validating Site Association is there any other reason DCs should
participate in DFS? I have DFS installed and configured on File Servers and
have done nothing on DCs is there anything that need to be done so DFS is
functioning 100%?
