DFS Error 13555

I have had DFS running for awhile and, its been working fine.
i have two servers that are NOT DCs

Server1 is Windows 2003 Enterprise SP2
Server2 is Windows 2008 Enterprise SP1

Server1 for the past two weeks has been giving errors 13501, 13502, 13504,
and 13555 errors. FRS service will not run.

Server2 FRS is running but, of course, nothing is replicating.

I have at least 300GB of data that is in DFS and, the Administrator is not
on the ACL of all of the folders/files so, Im concerned about copying it off
some where.

I opened a case with microsoft but, havent received much help yet.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Just to be clear are you using DFS or DFSR? If DFS,
I would consider moving from DFS to DFSR by installing R2 on your Win 2k3
server.

Using just DFS at the moment.

I would strongly suggest moving to DFSR with Win 2k3 R2. It's just a matter
of running setup2 from the second disk of the R2 set. It only upgrades some
features.

Thanks for the recommendation. I need to fix this the way it is before I
upgrade.

Im not sure what is causing it or, the best course of action to fix it at
this time.

Personally I would cut my losses and remove the DFS replication if it is not
working. Then backup the data, upgrade to R2 and set up the replication again in
R2 using DFSR.

There are 10 types of people, those that understand binary and those that don't.
