Hi!

I am interested in the DFS technology for its ability to map a logical name
to a shared folder.
Can someone who use DFS for a while now, can give me the pros and cons of
DFS ?

Thank you.

The biggest pro is a consolidate namespace that is very easy for any end
user to remember. As you work thru your hardware lifecycle, you will
quickly discover how easy it is to remove/add a server and it doesn't
disrupt things like drive mappings.

The next pro is that depending on whether using Windows Clustering or a
Member server is replication. (e.g. Replication isn't supported under
Windows 2003 clustering.)

I can't think of any major cons unless you have sites that are not well
connected. This to me is not a problem with Microsoft, but more along
internal decisions about WAN setup and what one is willing to accept when
the site-to-site VPN goes down.
