Hi There,

We have a domain dfs share that for some sites seems to go to the incorrect
server when used in certain sites... So we have \\domain-name\patch on file
servers in diffrent sites (one server per site), in my site if I go to the
share I get the correct file server for my site, however in one of our other
sites if I go to a PC there and connect to the share i'm connected to a file
server in a diffrent site. Any ideas?

James - refer to the
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserv...ew/dfsfaq.mspx (in
particular, the answer to the question "What can cause clients to bbe
referred to unexpected targets" and verify whether any of the factors
described there applies in your case).

Hi Marcin,

That document was helpful however I've checked all the suggested reasons and
none are valid.

I did come across two other articles... We didn’t have failback enabled so I
enabled that and still no joy, I then came across this article:
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;898900
Most of our clients are XP SP2 so thought this could be the issue but i've
tried this and still have the same problem.

I then came across this article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/944505/en-us
I'm wondering if this is the issue we are seeing. I've asked the
administrators at the remote site to test this hot fix on a non-production
workstation and let me know.
