Hi

My environment - I have a Windows 2000 SP4 Server domain controller.
Server is responsible for DHCP. I need to decommission this server ad as a
result migrated the roles to another server Win2k3. I have having some
issues with DHCP.

I am runing Mitel telephones on the network and they are required to be in a
separate VLAN. I created the scope and necessary reservations along with the
required predefined scopes to accomodate for the mitel phones 192.168.1.2 for
phones and 192.168.0.x for the computers. However the phones are not getting
the correct IPs.

When I stop the DHCP services on the new server and restart on the orginal
everything works perfectly.

Can anyone suggest what I am doing wrong. Or is there a way to simply
export the original dhcp settings and import onto the new server.

thanks and hope to hear from you soon.

Probably need to enable bootp as well as dhcp for scope leases under
advanced settings of the scope properties.

Hello Microsoft,

As one of the scopes you use is in a different subnet, did you configure
the router between the networks to forward requests to the correct DHCP server?

Please describe more detailed your network setup.

Best regards

Hi

The servers are on the same subnet.

Original Server
Win2k SP4
dns
DHCP - 192.168.0.X 255.255.255.0
vlan for mitel phones 192.168.1.2

New Server
Win2k3
dns
DHCP - same ip range and same subnet. address leases are the same
vlan for mitel phones - same settings

is there anything else you require to assist.

Hello Microsoft,

As asked before, the is on the switch/router where the VLAN is configured
the DHCP server configured, where the DHCP request will be send to?

Best regards

Hi

There are 2 hp procurve 2626 switches on the network. I unplugged the
original DHCP server from its port on the switch and plugged the new server
in the same port and I am still experiencing the same issue.

What I further noticed is that the phone is obtaining an IP address from the
local lan 192.168.0.x and not the 192.168.1.x lease. Scope options are set
for the VLAN2.

How can I get hte phone to obtain its IP address from VLAN2.
How do you configure DHCP to use two VLANs. Why would the phone select the
local lan IP an not the VLAN IP.
