Does anyone know a good disagnostic software that will fix problems. There
are lots advertised, but are there any that are reliable?

I've got lots of problems. Everytime I boot up I get an error message saying
Windows has not loaded properly. The boot-up goes ahead but takes an age.
When I click on "my computer" it takes 3-4 minutes to show the drives. The
plug and play is not working. I've tried to load Camedia Software from CD
Rom, but it keeps failing - says Quick Time has failed to load properly, no
explanation. Won't go on to the camera software. The "http" default doesn't
work, and although a couple of people in this newsgroup suggested some
software to rectify it, they hven't had any effect.

I'm running XP home Service Pack 2, Trend Micro PC-cillin firewall and
anti-virus, IE 6.

Anyone have any suggestions?

You ought to install some free spyware, such as spyblaster, spybot and
destroy and do some scans. You might run online scans at Panda or even
Microtrend for spyware.

I use VCOM's "Fix-it Utilities Pro" and have used "System Mechanic" and like
both.

I also use Norton's, however, many folks dislike Norton, I have not had
problems with their utilities program. I dislike their cleansweep program. I
don't think there is any decent uninstall programs around since the "Remove
It" program back when I had W95. That was the best program and it was bought
by Norton's If i recall right and I guess, they simply did away with it.

I always have problems with QuickTime and have since left it alone.
