Difference between automatic update and standalone update installa

I tried installing some windows update by downloading the binary. While
running the same one warning message poped-up saying "The update does not
apply to your system". But the same update while tried through windwos
automatic update, it installed gracefully. Is it a bug with windows vistas 64
bit version.

What update? What link did you use to download the binary?
