Difference between Mac and PC Functionality

I use the latest versions of Windows Live Messenger (PC) and Microsoft
Messenger (Mac). Why is there such a major difference between the
functionality of the Mac and PC versions?

For example, the Mac version does not support:
- voice chat.
- receiving off-line messages. [I receive them when I sign in using the PC
version.]

Greetings Howard,

They are created by separate teams and have different goals and resources. The PC version by
the Messenger team in Redmond and the Mac version by the Mac Business Unit in California.
