Difference between Vista versions

Hi everyone:

I have a computer at home which I use for personal stuff (Office, web,
watching movies, music, etc) and occasionally use it for work (engineering
applications). From work, we are all given a brand new box of vista
Enterprise, which I have no idea what it does. Now, I just purchased a new
computer and I was wondering would any of the experts recommend me installing
this enterprise version or go and purchase a brand new vista home premium
version? I do plan on upgrading to windows 7 in the future. I appreciate
your suggestions.

Home Premium is fine for home use. You'll need Professional/Ultimate if you
connect it to an office network with a domain.
MS has a pricing plan where you can reserve a copy of Windows 7 now at
reduced prices.
Check places like Best Buy for purchasing packages where you can buy a new
PC now with Vista with a free or cheap option for upgrading to Windows 7
after it's release.
Unless your company, or some software you want to use, requires Windows 7
you most likely won't need to upgrade anytime soon. It's supposedly going
to be a significant improvement but so far I haven't heard of any features
in it which aren't in Vista.

Answered in another newsgroup. Please do not send the same message
separately to more than one newsgroup (called multiposting). Doing so
just fragments the thread, so someone who answers in one newsgroup
doesn't get to see answers from others in another newsgroup. And for
those who read all the newsgroups the message is multiposted to, they
see the message multiple times instead of once (they would see it only
once if you correctly crossposted instead). This wastes everyone's
time, and gets you poorer help than you should get.

If you must send the same message to more than one newsgroup, please
do so by crossposting -- sending a single message simultaneously to
multiple newsgroups (but only to a *few* related newsgroups).

Get Vista Home Premium [or Vista Business] unless you are somehow entitled
to run a copy of Enterprise on your new computer, then install Enterprise,
of course.

While you are at it, note that Windows 7 will be here soon and you will
probably want to install that when it arrives. Many stores are now offering
free upgrade coupons to Win 7 if you buy a computer now. Also be aware, if
you are just buying the software separate from the new computer, Win 7 can
