Different (I think) 80070005 error

I see many Windows Update 80070005 errors listed on this forum, but I have
not seen the actual error I'm getting as shown in the attached section of my
log file below. I have tried most of, if not all of the suggestions on this
forum to no avail.

Problem Description:
My problem started several months ago. When attempting updates, I press the
"Express" button and the "Checking for the latest updates for your
computer..." message is displayed but no report is ever returned. The
message and the progress bar below the message continue to cycle to the end
and start over, but the program never returns or issues a report.

The actual error from my log file below is:
"client fails to call back to search call
{E3D95D7C-628B-4970-88D7-DA3C965BC638} with error 0x80070005"

My OS is Windows 2000 SP4
