Hi, I am having a "discussion" with my brother. He is certain that the XP
SP2 CD I got last year (part # X10-80291) is out of date. He insists that if
he orders another SP2 CD from Microsoft that it will include more features
and updates. I always thought that SP2 is SP2 is SP2. Are there different
versions of SP2? Thanks

SP2 is the same as it was the day it was originally released.
Once a Service Pack is released, it does not change at all.

Brad;
SP-2 is the same today as it was when released as it will be next year.
You are correct, SP-2 is SP-2.

If there are any changes, Microsoft will do something similar as SP-2 and
call it something like SP-2a so there will be no confusion.

But do not expect SP-2a simply for updates.

SP-1a did not have any of the updates released since SP-1.
The only change for SP-1a was the removal of Microsoft Virtual Machine to
comply with court agreements.

You should have bet your brother a steak dinner, and you would be eating out
tonight ;-)

Thank you all for your replies! Not only did I not get a steak dinner, I had
to install a bunch of Hewlett-Packard updates (over his dial-up modem) and
then install SP2 for him from my CD. What are brothers for?
