Different versions of Windows Mail & deleting Contacts

My friend is unable to delete individuals from their Windows Mail Contact
list - nothing we have tried works. An older version I am sure.

I have Version 6.0.6000.16386 (vista_rtm.061101-2205). I have had this
computer for about a year, and I have no problems with Windows Mail. I can
easily delete unwanted Contacts (just right click/delete).

Is the latest version available anywhere for download, or should we opt for
Windows Live Mail to manage the list? Have never tried WLM.

Open contact book> right click the contact>drag it to the recycle bin.

There has been only one version of Windows Mail, although part of the
version number gets incremented to indicate SP1 or SP2 for Vista.
