I have a Cannon Powershot A40 camera. UJust used the basic driver in Vista
64 bit to upload the pictures. I use Paint Shop Pro to work on them. Last
night I installed SP1 and guess what/ Yup, can't use camera, Windows search
for driver failed and Cannon website has no support for this camera for
Vista says it's too old. What!!! nor would the driver from the original disk
work. I've got a Epson Colour printer that's older than the camera. Epson
can manage it, why not Cannon?

However this is strange considering that Vista 64 bit had a driver before I
installed SP1

Now I've got to fork out for a card reader. arghhh!

Alan

Try forcing the system to look in your Windows folder for the driver.

Did you check the Canon website for an updated driver?

Is there a rollback option under camera driver in the Device manager?

Right, Canon left me out in the cold as well....

The card reader should work fine, though - I used that for my old G2. =\
