I have been using Vista and like it. All my software loaded file except on
program the error message appeared:

"Please make sure the directory where program is installed permits write
access"

I went into properties of the C drive and check write access but error
message still occurred.

Any suggestions?

Which program in particular is giving this error?

The issue is created because the software was probably created
originally for Windows XP (or an earlier version of Windows), for which
full read/write access was granted to the Program Files and Windows
folders.

In Vista, the default security settings, including for Administrators,
are to only allow write access to the "Program Files", "Program Files
(x86)" and "Windows" folders when installing an application. This has
broken several applications that have not been written according to the
proper guidelines, which states that any settings the program may need
should either be stored in the current user registry, or in the current
user profile AppData folder.

You should contact the software supplier to determine if a Vista update
is available that addresses this issue.

Until then, you can try running the application in XP Compatibility
mode:

- Right-click the shortcut to the program, and select Properties
- Click the Compatibility tab to open it
- Check the box for "Run this program in compatibility mode", then
selct "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)
- Click OKThat *might* resolve the problem, but your best bet would still be to
get updates for the software to make it work properly in Vista.
