I ran the DirectX Diagnostic tool to find the version of DirectX on my
machine.
The dialog box reads:
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)

I read somewhere the other day that there are two versions of 9.0c

There are two downloads (Apps fairly recently available) that I want to
download, both requiring 9.0c.
How can I tell if I have the most recent one? I have investigated, but when
9.0c is listed the version number (like 4.09.0000.0904) is not noted. Even
on the DirectX Diagnostic Tool, the date isn't given.

I know Microsoft has one available to download, but if mine is the most
recent one, I don't want to do it again.

site - that is the latest - go get it.

Thanks, Jerry. Good time, then, to ask the question.

How do I identify the current version of DirectX I just downloaded March
30.

The download site at Microsoft.com lists Ver 9.26.1590, dated 03-23-2009.

Today, I don’t see newer files in the list of System32\DirectX\ Properties –
all the files are 2004 files

This evening, I ran the DX Diagnostic tool and it says the current version
is DirectX Version is DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) the same version as I
already had on my computer.

Anybody see any discrepancies here? Where, on my computer do I find the
record of the new update?

I thought to look at the installation log. It said [4.09.00.0904.0_WinXP] is
being installed
Same version as I already had, but I don't know what the download site meant
by Ver. 9.26.1590.
