I tried intalling direct x9.0c but it says internal error dsond.vxd. It then
tells me to go to my windows file to see the full reason. I dont know how to
fix this problem. Anyone who know how to please let me know. By the way I'm
trying to install the sims2 game.

Hi;

First, I think you mean dsound.vxd, right?

Anyway, if you haven't already download the full install of DirectX 9.0c to
your local drive. Then disable the file protection in your anti-virus
software; install DirectX 9.0c, then re-enable to AV file protection
feature.

I am currently on Direct X 8.1 according to dxdiag.exe Whenever I try to
install Direct X9.0c from either the run time version or the web installer, I
run the file, and it basically just says "All necessary components have been
installed" without even cpying any files. Currently Half Life 2 refuses to
run because it says that I need Direct X 9.0b.

Someone please help.

Thanks

Joe, have you restarted the computer? When you say you have tried to
install from the run time version, is that file about 34 MB?

If you open the \Windows\DirectX.log with Notepad, then scroll down to the
bottom, are there error messages listed there?

I was able to solve my problems. i used a copy of direct x 9.0b runtime
on my copy of Doom 3. It installed the files unlike the runtime from 9.0c.
I can now run half life 2 which is why posted this in the first place.

Thanks.
