Directx9 vs Directx10

I have Vista Home Premium. I recently installed FEAR and Extraction.
Afterwards I found that I could play single but not multiplayer. I also found
that I couldn't play HALO 2 multiplayer either.
I uninstalled FEAR & Extraction yet I still can't play m'player on HALO 2 or
anything else m'player on the internet.
Can someone explain to me what has happened? Better yet, how do I fix this?.

I don't know how your games use DirectX, but they may need optional DirectX
components, which you can find here:

http://www.gamesforwindows.com/en-US...DirectX10.aspx

Click on "Download the latest DirectX", and the DirectX End-User Runtime Web
Installer will analyze your installation, and install the components that
need updating, or that you may be missing.

are you running ur games as administrator and in compatibility mode?\

Yes. I am the administrator. I have never had a problem like this before.

no I mean are you right clicking on the exe and clicking run as
administrator some games require this in vista.
