disable auto update

running win98se,, need to disable microsoft auto
update,,control panel,system,takes me to my device
mgr.,nothing there to disable auto update any suggestions
on where to go next? need it disabled its interferring
with other operations ,,ty

Do you mean Critical Update Notification? If so, you can remove it via
Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.
