If you disable certificate checking on your device it will work with even the
basic SBS cert that is bundled with MS SBS 2003.

You can download it from

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

You will need to run it from command promt with a switch

System Requirements
Supported Operating Systems: Windows 2000 Service Pack 3; Windows Server 2003
Sample instructions (for PocketPC 2002, 2003 and Smartphone 2002 devices):

Ensure that your device is connected to the Desktop, that ActiveSync is
installed, and your device is connected. A partnership is not necessary, you
may connect as Guest should you wish.

On the desktop, open up a command prompt, and change to the directory
containing the tool executable CERTCHK.EXE

The tool uses a simple command line interface. To disable certificate
checking, type: CERTCHK off

To enable certificate checking, type: CERTCHK on

To verify if certificate checking is currently enabled or disabled, type:
CERTCHK query

To get syntax help for the command, type: CERTCHK

Please be sure to re-enable certificate checking on the device after you are
done with testing and have installed a signed certificate.

Buy the way using the divice with cert check off will still use SSL to
authenticate

Just doesn't care if certificate is singed or not
