Disable Ctrl+F4

Good day,

I am currently doing an online course which includes some Flash animations.
At one point, they want me to press Ctrl+F4 to proceed with the animations.
However, this key combinations seems to have already been assigned to closing
active window.

How can I disable Ctrl+F4?

You're pressing Alt + F4 to close the window. It's one of the stranger
Windows shortcuts that was carried over from a popular DOS app (probably
something like WordPerfect), before most of the other standard shortcuts
were copied from MacOS when they were finally standardised in Windows 3.
The MacOS standard key for closing apps is Ctrl + W, which is also used in
Windows sometimes for Close, if not Quit.

I use the Alt+F4 shortcut all the time to close applications, but the issue
I have now is with Ctrl + F4 which "Close the active document in programs
that enable you to have multiple documents open simultaneously".

I just noticed that Ctrl + F4 seems to act just like Ctrl + W in IE7.

If you are doing this online course in IE7, you could try disabling tabs in
Internet Options. Would that help?

General tab > Tabs section > Settings button

I just checked, and it still closes IE when there are no tabs.

Ctrl + F4 closes tabs in Firefox as well, but it does not close the browser
when there is only one tab, so you could try using Firefox instead.
