Disable Inbox synching and enable alt folder?

Hi,

Is it possible to turn off Inbox synching in ActiveSync 4.2, but enable a
smaller, alternative folder for synching? It looks as though you can't
currently disable the Inbox once you've chosen to synch mail. Rather than
synching the Inbox, I want to be able to create a mail folder called 'PDA' or
similar, then copy any specific emails across to there that I wish to synch
and carry away, kind of like a Briefcase. Thus, the settings for that folder
would be to synch 'all' time periods with all attachments at any size, but
disable Inbox synching, especially with those settings. Clearly, you can
nominate any number of alternative mail folders for synching, but apparently
not disable the Inbox?

Thanks

Hi,
When you choose the option to sync the Inbox you cannot switch the folder
that is synchronized.

A workaround is to create a rule to move the incoming mail to another
folder. Then sync the inbox.

Thanks, Chris.

Note that I'm not 'choosing' to synch the Inbox, the main option is to synch
'Email', which then forces you to synch the Inbox as a sub-option, along with
further optional mail folders, i.e. you can't turn the Inbox off. I really
only want to be able to drag a handful of posts of interest to a
briefcase-like area, not blindly synch them all -- MS don't seem to have
thought of this possibility.

One other way would be to convert e-mails of interest to calendar
appointments by just copying the mail to the calendar folder (or Tasks?),
which brings the text and attachments across, and setting it to today's date,
possibly with 0 time and Free status, or just leave it as 'all day' -- then
you could choose not to synch email at all, just the calendar... I guess you
could try to return it to the mail folders if synching back to a 2nd PC...

I guess exporting emails as RTF to a file could also work, but laborious,
and will lose info...

Thanks again for the tip tho, I'll see if I can apply a rule which will do
the trick...
