Disable new version alert

I don't like WLM and I went back to 7.5 only to be annoyed by these pop-ups
to upgrade back to 8. Is there some registry hack to disable new version
notifications?

I'm afraid the older registry keys to do this no longer work in 6.x and above, so no.
Additionally, assuming we're talking about the same one, they're just coming up as normal
alerts so there's no real way to stop those.

Why don't you like it Sam?

It has excellent support for offline instant messages, it's got better
audio/video codecs, it also lets you manage your hotmail contacts
although I'd rather not see them myself in the IM program and you can
appear as offline on sign in.
