How to disable pop-up update window on 98SE

A window telling me there are new updates available keeps popping up at
inconvenient times. There are no new updates, except for one about
networking (that I do not want to install). I would like to just manually
check for updates periodically and get rid of the pop-up alert. How can I do
this on 98SE?

The next time that AutoUpdate notice appears, uncheck the networking item
you don't want, and select the "don't show me this again" option if that
appears.

Thank you for your help. I do uncheck the one I don't want, but don't recall
seeing an option saying "don't show me this again". Perhaps I haven't looked
closely enough. I'll look again. When the window first pops up, at that
point my only choices are "notify me later" or "check for updates".
