Disable Startup Programs
Once you have been using Windows Vista for some time, applications you install will start to tag items on to your Windows startup list. Some of these applications aren't needed and will only serve to slow your PC down. You can find a list of many possible applications in our File Database.This article isn't intended to explain which startup programs are not needed (as there are thousands), but if you know which application you wish to stop from automatically starting up then follow the steps below.
Launch "msconfig" from the run menu (press WINDOWS KEY + R to access this):
Select the Startup tab in the MSConfig application. This will list everything that loads when Windows Vista first starts up. Unticking items from this list and clicking OK will prevent them from loading the next time:
If you accidentally prevent something from loading that you need, simply repeat the process but tick the box you wish to activate.
