How To Disable Windows Update Notifications?

I installed Windows Update on my new Vista system........ and I get a
notification daily about two "updates" that are available (not even
important). In fact, the notification likes to live on my taskbar, always!
How can I "hide" these updates? I've looked everywhere for a way to hide
these, but no way that I can see. Please comment, thanks.
