Disabling disk-happy services to let the disk sleep while on battery power

Vista likes to access my hard drive a lot. Where's the setting to tell it to
stop doing all it's performance-enhancing background stuff like indexing
when my laptop is running on batteries, so that the hard drive can go to
sleep?
